Greetings!
I am Zunaidi Ibrahim, a dedicated Senior Assistant Professor at Universiti Teknologi Brunei, where I am actively engaged in inspiring young minds and contributing to cutting-edge research in the field of engineering. My passion lies in exploring innovative solutions that bridge the gap between technology and rehabilitation. Currently, my focus is on a groundbreaking project titled "An Intelligent Cooperative Robot-Assisted Upper Limb Rehabilitation System." This initiative aims to revolutionize the field of rehabilitation by developing an autonomous assisted-robot that leverages sensor fusion, EMG (Electromyography), ANN (Artificial Neural Networks), and VR (Virtual Reality) applications. The system is designed to provide efficient and effective support for upper limb rehabilitation, empowering patients on their road to recovery. As a Senior Assistant Professor, my teaching philosophy revolves around the belief that "teaching is always not enough." In this era of information explosion, my aim is not to overwhelm my students with an overload of knowledge, but to guide them in becoming independent and lifelong learners. I encourage them to explore how, where, and what to learn, nurturing their ability to think critically and seek knowledge beyond the boundaries of traditional classrooms. My academic journey has been enriched by a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with a Ph.D. in System Engineering (with a specialization in Robotics) from Mie University, Japan. Through my experiences in academia and industry, including my tenure at Nippon Denso, a subsidiary of Toyota, I have gained valuable insights that have significantly influenced my teaching and research approaches. At Universiti Teknologi Brunei, I have taught a diverse range of subjects related to Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, and Robotics, among others. I continuously strive to cultivate a dynamic and interactive learning environment, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving prowess among my students. My goal is to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the ever-evolving engineering landscape. Beyond teaching, my research pursuits have been driven by a passion for pushing boundaries and making meaningful contributions to society. The development of the Intelligent Cooperative Robot-Assisted Upper Limb Rehabilitation System is a testament to my commitment to creating innovative solutions that positively impact the healthcare industry and the lives of patients. I am determined to bridge the gap between theory and practice in engineering education, instilling in my students a deeper understanding of real-world applications. By incorporating hands-on experiences, industry projects, and research-based learning, I aim to nurture the next generation of engineering professionals who are not only technically proficient but also equipped with the creativity and adaptability to drive change in the world. As I continue my journey, I am excited about the opportunities to further explore sustainable manufacturing, rehabilitation technologies, and interdisciplinary research. Together with my students and colleagues, I am committed to making a lasting impact on the future of engineering and contributing to the betterment of society. With an unwavering commitment to advancing engineering and embracing novel challenges, I look forward to contributing my expertise to meaningful projects and nurturing the next generation of engineering trailblazers.
